As a registered nurse, I have experienced dealing with many patients suffering from Sundown Syndrome. Sundown Syndrome is a common problem during hospitalization of elderly patients. The loss of normal diurnal (day/night) cycles as a result of multiple factors (inability to shut off the lights completely, interrupted sleep for medication administration and/or mandatory patient checks, etc) causes forgetfulness, insomnia, restlessness, disorientation, and more.
